Hand-held is an experimental film about the end of a relationship and trying to capture something lost. I shot the footage as part of a super 8 filmmaking workshop and was disappointed by what I’d filmed as it came out blurry and too bright. While watching it back, however, I started to imagine narration. This became the narration for the edited film, and the footage became part of a completely new story. By failing to capture what I’d wanted to through film, I managed to make a film about that very feeling - of reality slipping through your fingers.
