Growing up in a strict religious background, I wanted to tell a story about the concept of divine truth and those who claim the rights to speak it. The story pushed me into uncomfortable spaces that allowed me to explore many of the ideologies and hypocrisies that our very country was founded upon. I knew telling a story of a young individual confronting a preacher spreading a message for their own personal agenda would be touchy, but I want to continue to tell important American stories like these that actively comment on our modern experiences in a meaningful way.
