About this submission

Dinner at the End of the World is a short film about a Ukrainian Jewish Family eating their last dinner at the end of the world.
It came from a desire to see myself represented on screen. I am a first generation American, I am Ukrainian and Jewish, and found that my story, and the story of families like mine had not been told. I wanted to make a film about the Jewish experience of resilience and identity in the face of hardship. I wanted to paint my unique American and Ukrainian Jewish experience onto the screen with a hint of magical realism. In this film, the hardship and the magical realism combined into the literal end of the world.
