My youth was spent in church camps. Like many LGBTQ youth, I struggled with being bisexual in the church, even having a negative coming-out experience with a pastor. I wanted to make a film that portrayed churches in a more understanding yet realistic light and make a comedic story as many LGBTQ stories in the church feature dramatic, traumatic coming-out stories. The protagonist is a bisexual teen who finds community in the church and is accepted by a pastor. Though the film is not faith-based, I hope that all churches can become a safer place for LGBTQ youth.
