This story is about love and sacrifice and through my own personal experience that is what makes up Chicano culture in Southern California. Though Chicano or "Cholo" culture is continually portrayed in such negativity in film, I decided to portray it in a different light. This film is dark and lives in genre, but I felt the need to portray Cholo characters as goofy and loving beings. Emphasizing the beauty in Cholo culture whether it's the clothing, makeup, music, cars, or language. I wanted to show the beauty of a culture I grew up around.
