When I was very little my mother divorced my biological father, who was an immigrant raised, Chinese man for a White Washed, upper class Chinese man. Because I was so young, this duality of culture had a profound effect on me. Do I lean into acting white to have a better chance at success in life like my stepfather did, or do I embrace my cultural traditions and possibly live in scarcity because of it. This story is a visual representation of two different sides of my identity that, in actuality, is one monolithic expression of that identity.
