About this submission

While studying at AFI, I saw my immigrant mother lose both of her parents in the same year. I could only imagine the pain she felt being so far away from her home and family. I myself had become a workaholic who was constantly neglecting family and friends to pursue my dreams. Had I been in my mother’s shoes, I would’ve carried a tremendous guilt knowing that I could have been there more. Bajo La Tierra is about what we sacrifice for our goals, and the journey we must go on to find what is truly valuable in our lives.
