About this submission

When Johana, a magical daughter of the sea, falls for a fisherman’s son in need, she is forced to choose between sacrificing herself and her home, or leaving him helpless.

In this short, Singh explores the meaning of overconsumption through the lenses of love and sacrifice. Using fantasy and romance, "Aphrodite is Dead" draws our attention to the intersections between economic disparity, the climate crisis, and interpersonal relationships.
