This story is important because as we see the increased positive representation of black people in film, there is a narrative that has been constantly overlooked. The narrative of Black women. As a Black woman, I have always struggled with the idea of being in an interracial relationship with a white man. The Golliwog represents the manifestation of those ugly insecurities and how they can affect you and the people around you. I made this film to express and then conquer those feelings doubt within myself, and hopefully help other Black women do the same.
