I wrote this story because I felt there was a lack of realistic and modern portrayals of young messy queer love. Therefore, I wrote about the confusing boundaries of queer friendship and the emotional roller coaster of falling in love with your best friend.

Within this tragic trope and canonical event of every queer person I've ever known, I am able to explore hidden truths of the human experience - taboo desires, compulsive character flaws, and emotional breaking points with compassion and care. I chose this story because I wanted to write something honest about growing up and loving hard.
