A Serious House is a film about community, or more accurately, a film about the loss of community and the subsequent guilt and isolation that can occur. I wanted to tell this story to show the dangers of isolation, of living in the past, of not letting go and moving on. It shows how life becomes meaningless without a sense of community, that we need to interact and help each other to truly find meaning in life. In light of the isolation of covid-19, I wanted the film to speak to our shared experience of the past 3 years.
