About this submission

I conceived of this film as a way to gift Black lesbians the same sort of sultry Black romance that was once confined to straight romantic comedies like Love Jones. I wanted to showcase nascent Black lesbian love in a context where it wasn’t left in the background or riddled with homophobic or transphobic trauma. Black lesbians deserve meet cutes. They deserve to be serenaded with spoken word over the soft jazz of a saxophone. My hope as a filmmaker is provide the community with the safe and sultry romance, magic, and laughter they deserve.
