Deborah Goodwin's screenwriting journey started with a decade in development at Hollywood studios like USA Networks, CBS, ABC Daytime. She is the former Director of Development at Sanford-Pillsbury ("Desperately Seeking Susan," "River's Edge," and "How To Make An American Quilt”.) She made her mark as a screenwriter and independent filmmaker when she won the Urbanworld Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Best Screenplay for her bold and darkly funny family drama, "Cherrys." This win put her on the map and opened doors for future projects. Deborah's writing gained attention, scoring fellowships with prestigious organizations like Film Independent (FIND) and IFP (The Gotham) Lab Emerging Narrative. More

Deborah Goodwin is a writer-producer-director, UK born, raised in Montreal and now based in Beacon, NY.
Deborah sold her first TV episode to the cult hit animated series, Tales From the Cryptkeeper. Her Urbanworld Film Festival, Best Screenplay win for her provocative dark family drama Cherry's, launched her screenwriting career. Deborah’s horror-fable Vampires In Venice, made her directing debut at Marche du Film Cannes in 2011 and her second feature, The Pastor, had its nationwide release in AMC theaters in 2016. She is a writer-producer on the original series Justine to a Fault, which was developed with BRIC TV. Deborah has been a FIND Film Independent fellow and an IFP Emerging Narrative Fellow. Her female driven psychological thriller, She Lives (a Sundance, Women’s Catalyst finalist) was selected for the Made in New York Financing Lab, now in development with The Gersh Agency and Lillian LaSalle’s Sweet 180 Management.
