Hannah Tsai Kim is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist and educator with a longstanding practice as a documentary and narrative film producer and director. Inspired by the stories and unseen magic within her Taiwanese and Korean lineages, and deeply rooted in traditions of justice and community, her projects center the complexities of living in the U.S. within communities of Color. Her documentaries have screened at the Harvard Film Archive, the Dallas Asian Film Festival, the San Antonio Film Festival, and the Newport Beach Film Festival, with one currently streaming on Peacock. She holds a Bachelor's degree in History & Literature and Art, Film, & Visual Studies from Harvard University.

Heart of Kimchi

I made Heart of Kimchi to honor my mom, as well as the relationship I have with my family: at once complex, sometimes confusing, but with so much love. At its core Heart of Kimchi is about beginning to see myself/yourself/ourselves as the fermented amalgamations of the people, land, and histories we come from. Maybe it takes a slightly ridiculous premise of lugging your heart jar around to realize that we carry our families with us. And like kimchi, this film is sour, spicy, raw—but the depths of a heart and the love poured into it revealed in moving images.

Nabōm: I, Spring

Creator: Hannah Tsai Kim
On a bright yet dreary winter's day, Will picks up their old Viewfinder, unexpectedly thrown into the world of Nabōm. Nabōm brings the concept of "scent memory" alive, taking Will through three sensory explorations: mandarin oranges, giant iris flowers, and a forest tea party, guided by Miracle.
