Writer, Director, Instructor

Los Angeles, California, United States

Dennis Widmyer is an award-winning writer and director who has honed his writing craft for more than twenty-five years demonstrating his versatile talent across various genres. However, it was in the realm of horror that he truly made a name for himself. In 2014, he collaborated with his longtime co-writer and co-director Kevin Kölsch on the chilling film "STARRY EYES," which USA Today called one of the best horror movies of the 21st century. He then spent the next few years writing and rewriting scripts for every major studio from Universal to Sony before Paramount pegged him and Kevin to direct the 2019 remake of “PET SEMATARY.” During this phase in his career, their script titled "THE SWALLOW" earned a coveted spot on the Bloodlist, which is the horror genre's equivalent of the renowned Black List.

In addition to his film work, Dennis co-created author Chuck Palahniuk’s (“FIGHT CLUB”) official website which later birthed LitReactor.com, a literary website dedicated to online workshops and classes for burgeoning writers of all genres. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two kids and three cats.
