Corey Emanuel Jr - Sundance Collab

Corey Emanuel Jr is a Guyanese American, Florida-raised, writer and director. His work delves deep into relationship dynamics using distinctive genre films to explore humanity and highlight culture. His short film "Haven" premiered at the American Black Film Festival, then went on to screen at five Oscar Qualifying film festivals before premiering on the prestigious online platform "OMELETO". "Haven" was acquired by American Airlines where it is shown on all American Airlines flights. Corey's next short, "Death in Her Arms", is a proof of concept drama/horror for what he aims to be his debut feature.

Haven examines the dangers of trust and how adults can be blind to adolescent trauma. A black man questions his notion of a safe place, then finds disturbing beings in his home. It is ultimately a story of forgiveness, which hits home in my struggle to mend my relationship with my father, serving as a reminder that despite any circumstance, moving forward with love is always an option.
