Catherine Alderete is a recent first-gen Mexican-American graduate from UC San Diego. Growing up in Los Angeles, particularly in the San Gabriel Valley, her dream was always to become a filmmaker. She is deeply connected to her Mexican-American community and is driven to help others from her city succeed in pursuing their aspirations. Her recent film, La Paloma, has been selected to screen at the 31st San Diego Latino Film Festival.
