As far as I can remember, I felt an affinity for thrillers and film noirs. I loved the aesthetics, characters, and using a narrator to gain an understanding of the character's psyche. However, as I was diving deeper into the political and cultural implications of film noirs, in particular, I began to see that often the genre didn`t love me as much as I loved it.
I wanted to put a woman in the middle of the story as the main protagonist, the investigator, and explore how that affects the power dynamics within the film noir.
