Women in Film

Founded in 1973 as Women In Film, Los Angeles, WIF advocates for and advances the careers of women working in the screen industries, to achieve parity and transform culture. We support women and non-binary people in front of and behind the camera and across all levels of experience. We work to change culture through our distinguished pipeline programs; we advocate for gender parity through research, education, and media campaigns; and we build a community centered around these goals. Membership is open to all screen industry professionals.


Nisha Ganatra

Writer/ Director / Producer / Actor

Nisha Ganatra has made her mark as a director in television and film. Her acclaimed début feature, Chutney Popcorn won Audience Awards and Best Feature Awards at the Berlin International Film Festival, Newport Film Festival, Outfest, Frameline The San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and many more. Her next feature, Cosmopolitan, premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

She has directed numerous episodes of television including Girls, Dear White People, Mr. Robot, Shameless, Brooklyn 9-9, Last Man On Earth, Love, and the upcoming Black Monday. On FX’s Better Things, she served as the producing director for the first season. As the producing director for the first season of Transparent she won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy. She serves on the board of Women in Film.
