A well-intentioned birthday gift from mosaic artist Robin to her teenage daughter Jamie turns sour and leads to a bitter argument. Jamie decides to spend the day with her father, leaving Robin regretful and alone. Hours later, Robin receives a panicked call from Jamie from the hospital. Robin rushes to the scene, but finds that Jamie’s father has passed away. On the morning of the burial, Jamie reveals to Robin her disappointment with the choice of customary white roses. Motivated by the potential to ease her daughter's grief and the chance to atone, Robin promises that they will find blue flowers and make it to the service on time.
