En un nuevo seminario web de nuestra serie en español, Co//ab se une a CCC (Centro de Cine y Creación) presentando a Martín Rejtman (Rapado, Silvia Prieto), figura clave del Nuevo Cine Argentino, en una conversación conducida por la cineasta chilena Dominga Sotomayor (De jueves a domingo, Tarde para morir joven). Reuniendo a dos generaciones en un diálogo de artista a artista, Martín y Dominga conversarán sobre su particular uso del lenguaje, su mordaz sátira social y cómo el cine argentino de los 90 ha influenciado a las nuevas generaciones de cineastas en Latinoamérica.

¿QUÉ ES CCC?
CCC (Centro de Cine y Creación) es un proyecto independiente sin fines de lucro fundado en 2016 para crear un cine de barrio en pleno centro de Santiago, donde vecinos, artistas, amigxs y familias se encuentren en torno al cine y la cultura. CCC cree en recuperar la experiencia colectiva de ver una película, hoy en una sala virtual con capacidad infinita, con la certeza de que mañana volveremos a encontrarnos también en la casa CCC.
CCC programa películas, gestiona actividades artísticas para la comunidad y fomenta el desarrollo de profesionales de las industrias creativas y en particular de la industria audiovisual nacional. A través de talleres y encuentros busca democratizar el acceso a la cultura y a las redes profesionales para darle al cine chileno el espacio relevante que se merece.
A new webinar in our Spanish-language series, Co//ab will join CCC (Center for Cinema & Creation) from Chile to welcome Martin Rejtman (Rapado, Silvia Prieto), a key figure in the New Argentine Cinema, in a conversation hosted by Chilean filmmaker Dominga Sotomayor (Thursday Till Sunday, Too Late To Die Young). Bringing together two generations in an artist-to-artist dialogue, Martin and Dominga will discuss Martin’s unique use of language, incisive social satire, and how the Argentine cinema of the 90’s influenced a new generation of filmmakers in Latin America.

Martín Rejtman estudió cine en la Universidad de Nueva York. Su primer largometraje “Cropped Head” (1992) le valió su primera nominación al premio Silver Leopard en el Festival de Cine de Locarno. Posteriormente dirigió “Silvia Prieto” (1999), “Los guantes mágicos” (2003), el documental “Copacabana” (2006), “Formación elemental para actores” (codirigido con Federico León) (2008), y “ Dos tiros disparados ”(2014). Durante los últimos años, ha habido varias retrospectivas de su trabajo (BAFICI; Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, California; Valdivia Film Festival; Harvard Film Archive; Jeonju International Film Festival, South Korea; Lincoln Center Film Society, Nueva York, Cinemateca Portuguesa, entre muchas otras).
Rejtman también es escritor, habiendo publicado “Rapado”, “Treinta y cuatro cuentos”, “Velcro y yo”, el guión de “Silvia Prieto”, “Literatura y otros cuentos” el texto de “Formación elemental para actores” y “Tres Cuentos".
Martín Rejtman studied film at the New York University. His first feature Cropped Head (1992) got him his first nomination to the Silver Leopard award at the Locarno Film Festival. Later, he directed Silvia Prieto (1999), The Magic Gloves (2003), the documentary Copacabana (2006), Elementary Training for Actors (co-directed with Federico León) (2008), and Two Shots Fired (2014). During the past few years, there’ s been various retrospectives of his work (BAFICI; Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, California; Valdivia Film Festival; Harvard Film Archive; Jeonju International Film Festival, South Korea; Lincoln Center Film Society, New York, Cinemateca Portuguesa, among many others).
Rejtman also is a writer, having published “Rapado”, “Thirty four stories”, “Velcro and I”, the “Silvia Prieto” script, “Literature and other stories” the text to “Elementary Training for Actors”, and “Three Stories”.
Dominga Sotomayor

Dominga Sotomayor (1985, Santiago de Chile), guionista y directora, co-fundadora de la productora CINESTACIÓN y de CCC, Centro de Cine y Creación, nuevo cine de barrio y lugar de encuentro en Santiago. Su primer largometraje, "De jueves a domingo," desarrollado en la Residencia de la Cinéfondation de Cannes, obtuvo el Tiger Award a Mejor Película en Rotterdam y participó en un centenar de festivales. El 2013 co-dirigió el corto "La Isla," también ganador del Tiger Award en Rotterdam. En 2015 estrenó "Mar" en Berlinale Forum, y "Aquí en Lisboa," una película colectiva filmada en Portugal. En 2018 estrenó "Tarde para morir joven" en el 71º Festival de Locarno, donde se convirtió en la primera mujer en ganar el Leopardo a la Mejor Dirección. En los últimos años ha hecho videos e instalaciones donde destaca el video “People” para la exposición “Little Sun” de Olafur Eliasson en el Tate Modern en 2012. Actualmente es Profesora en el Departamento de Arte, Cine y Estudios Visuales de la Universidad de Harvard.

Dominga Sotomayor (1985, Santiago de Chile) is a writer director, co-founder of the production company CINESTACIÓN and CCC (Centro de Cine y Creación), a new arthouse cinema and center in Santiago. Her first feature film Thursday till Sunday was developed at the Cannes Cinéfondation Residence and won the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2012. In 2013 she co- directed the short film The Island that also won the Tiger Award at Rotterdam. In 2015, she premiered Mar at the Berlinale Forum and co-directed the collective film Here in Lisbon in Portugal. For her last film Too Late To Die Young (2018) she became the first woman to receive the Leopard for Best Direction at Locarno Film Festival. She has made videos and photographs for exhibitions like Little Sun (Olafur Eliasson) at Tate Modern 2012. Currently, she is Visitor Professor in the Department of Art, Film and Visual Studies at Harvard University.
