Most women in India are defined by being a wife, a daughter, or a mother. If she were to stop playing these roles for any reason, there could be an identity conflict that would force her to redefine herself.
I wanted to explore that conflict - which may come both with liberation and guilt - through this story about an interaction between a recently widowed woman who gets a haircut, and her hairstylist.
I'm interested in the connection between strangers which maybe brief, but are meaningful, and wanted to bring that out through the conversation between these two characters.
