About this submission

The film was inspired roughly by my parent's unique experience as anti-government white people fleeing South Africa during apartheid and their experience grappling with their origins, as they tried to settle in the UK. The story engages with intergenerational problems of identity and origins when one generation tries to repress its guilt for its 'crimes'. The project sought to use a refreshing and textural approach to examining memory and guilt, by focussing closely on how fabric and clothing bares the marks of our past and our selves.
