I've always loved philosophy. I think it's the best tool to understand the concepts that drive our actions. A few years ago I was reading an essay called "Homer's Contest" by Friedrich Nietzsche, which discusses the ancient Greek ritual of "ostracism." Essentially, Nietzsche argues that if someone is so great that they totally dominate a game, they must be exiled to ensure fair competition. I wanted to make a surreal story about this sinister ritual. So, I recruited a few friends with no acting experience to make a short with me while we were on vacation.
