I chose to tell this story because it’s personal and close to my heart. Lacey’s past is highly inspired from the past of my best friend, whose dad battled addiction and eventually passed out because of it. Because of that, she leaned a lot on her friendships for support, which has made us very close. The shots of Lacey laughing with her friends is inspired from my friendship with my friend. Lacey’s friend making her laugh at her dad’s funeral is inspired from real life as a similar moment happened.
