I saw a news article during the pandemic, about an older couple who killed themselves on a Colorado hiking trail. The husband shot his wife, then himself.
I was struck by how unnoticed the event was--the article was on some local news website, and the police did not do any further investigations-- and how much trust the couple must have in each other. This woman would be willingly killed by her partner and believed that he would keep his words and follow suit.
This short is about those two things: the quietness of death and the depth of our trust.
