I wanted to tell a story which was grounded in the universal longing of wanting to reconnect with the child inside of us. I felt this spirit could be encapsulated in a story about a persecuted father wanting to reconnect with his child after a long period of absence. The story takes place in Kenya, so for me it was an exciting challenge also trying to make the story culturally specific while maintaining the soul of the message.
