About this submission

Inspired by the short stories of Luis Borges, and the early Paul Thomas Anderson short "Cigarettes and Coffee", I wanted to create a fragmented narrative centred around an anecdote told between two strangers, one there to seek another's help. I was interested in exploring the inexplicable, how we perceive, communicate and interact with the past as a living and fallible object of the present. Shot on expired black and white film, we were interested in creating a film where story and atmosphere were equally unknowable, strange, and degraded like memory over time.
