Salvando A Salvador is a dark comedy about a trio of sisters who must decide what to do with their late father’s corpse after they are unable to secure a death certificate, inspired by the real life events surrounding my grandfather's passing in Ciudad Juárez, my family's hometown.
I chose to tell this story because I wanted to showcase Mexican folklore in unprecedented scenery and the peculiar relationship towards death that has been cultivated within Mexican culture, present a systemic crisis within the Mexican public health sector in an engaging way, and honor my grandfathers fantastic sense of humor.
