About this submission

Bruce Koech, a solitary warrior, embraces a mission from his imaginary Sensei to become a fearless hero. School mandates him to wear a bone disk, shaming him for speaking Swahili against policy. Enduring ridicule, Sensei urges him to reclaim honor by discarding the disk. Removing it in defiance, Koech faces the Headmaster’s wrath, enduring caning to protect his dignity. Yet, the pain proves overwhelming, compelling him to yield and don the disk once more. Bruce departs the office, one step away from realizing his badass hero potential, his journey marked by the conflict between resilience and societal constraints.
