The story of a woman's diagnosis with breast cancer is sadly a common one, but the moment of sharing such bad news is not often explored in cinema. In my short film I tried to explore this lack of communication, as a mother builds courage to share her diagnosis. Single mother, Jean, being diagnosed for breast cancer is not the tragedy in 'Raising Agatha', rather it is the lack of she has that her daughter will be willing to care for her. This is a tale that has rattled previous generations in my family.
