Portals is an experimental short film, capturing the reflections of trans dancers as they move to spoken word, discussing topics of transition, spirituality, and self-worship. In capturing only reflections, the film turns the audience into the subject, personalizing the experience of finding spirituality and tapping into divine transness. The first part of the film follows a trans mover as they go through their morning affirmations. The second portion of the film is a prayer to the trans body. Taking from the director’s Chicane upbrining, this portion of the film is an exploration of spirituality and gratitude for trans existence.
