“Pho” illustrates my lifelong journey of navigating the complexities of being half Vietnamese and half Chinese-American. Not being fluent in Vietnamese hindered my connection with many of my family members throughout my life. Despite this struggle, I discovered a powerful bridge—the universal language of food. This narrative reflects my personal experiences, exploring the balance between preserving past relationships while creating new connections. Through this story, I aim to foster a deeper understanding of the universal struggles and triumphs that shape our cultural identities.
