Even though we’re separated physically, our Online Meetups allow you to connect with other creators. The Online Meetup begins with everyone viewing works-in-progress by Sundance Co//ab community members then listen and learn from live feedback between the creator and a Sundance Advisor. Afterwards, we all meet and mingle in virtual breakout rooms to discuss our thoughts on the works-in-progress and our own projects.

Join us for our first Online Meetup on May 7, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm (PT) as our artist-in-residence, filmmaker Éva Gárdos, shares her insight and advice as she answers questions from the creators of two works-in-progress selected from short films posted to Share Your Work.

Éva is an award winning film editor having worked with directors such as Francis Coppola, Barbet Schroeder, Peter Bogdanovich and Anjelica Huston. Her screenwriting and feature film directorial debut, An American Rhapsody, starred Tony Goldwyn, Nastassja Kinski and a young Scarlett Johansson. The film is based on the true life events of Éva’s family escaping from Communist Hungary leaving their infant child (Éva) behind. The film received won multiple awards on the Festival Circuit and was released by Paramount Classics. After discovering the bestselling Hungarian novel, Budapest Noir, she developed the script and went on to direct it. It premiered at the Chicago Film Festival, and has played at many other festivals such as Chicago International, Palm Springs, and Shanghai. It is now available on Amazon, Kanopy and other VOD platforms. Éva has taught film directing and thesis film editing at NYFA for ten years and this is her 5th time as advisor on Sundance Collab. more...
