About this submission

When Abisola accepts a dance party invitation from her ex and that dance party turns out to be the ex's surprise wedding, she flees to her insomniac cousin, Mojisola's Brooklyn apartment.

In Ola Ola, two queer Nigerian-American cousins reunite, eat, and dance together as they ponder what it means to live American lives.

I made Ola Ola because I'm interested in narratives that center queer Black folks in the everyday. More so I was advised to make a short film with a single location, two characters max, that I could film and edit in a weekend.
