About this Video
I have always been fascinated by representations of women in the media and how advertising/ social media make women feel less than perfect. I wanted to make a film which exploits the techniques used by advertisers and Instagram, twisting them and the common phrases used in makeup tutorials to create a sinister film which shows the coercion and pressure to be perfect these brands and society places on us. I also tried to create links to the past in an effort to highlight how little has changed for women since eras like the 1950’s.
