My Hyperpop Era is a surreal reflection of my own life, as if I looked into a broken mirror and the shards told a story. After years being surrounded by death during the pandemic, and subsequently losing my Nana, I found myself falling in love for the first time. I wanted to capture this specific feeling of emotional whiplash by telling a story about an artist processing the loss of her boyfriend whilst falling in love again. Inspired by DIY musicians, melodramas, death and love, the story of My Hyperpop Era nearly leapt from my heart to the screen.
