In the early stages of my ambitious endeavor to watch 'every Black film ever made' as a part of my self-prescribed home-school film curriculum, I noticed that there were so few films featuring Black actors from the 1920's due to poor film preservation. I quickly decided that my first film would feature a Black couple during this time period. I really enjoyed the exaggerated acting required of silent films and the emphasized importance of the visual fabric of this genre of storytelling. I was inspired by Tom Misch's song 'Movie', and thus I gave this film the same name.
