Following an exhaustive and higher-budget short film production the previous year, I wanted to get back to the absolute fundamentals of filmmaking. I brought a skeleton crew together (four of us including myself) in a friend's cabin for the weekend for a 48-hour creative exercise. Using only what we could find within reach, "Lumiere" was made. Using an expressionistic blend of color, sound effects, and score, we produced an abstract allegory for the creative process - two inventors in a black & white reality working desperately to change the world around them forever.
