Often we forget our garments' true purpose. When we wear or buy clothing, we forget the impact of how the garment became ours. Drawing a connection to the garments' natural origin, we can shift the meaning of our clothes from disrespect for the land/labor to a perspective of gratitude for what we have. The message is urgent and needs to be actionable. When I connected with the sustainable textile designer, I took advantage of the opportunity. Rather than focusing on the paralyzing consequences of the fashion industry, disillusioned buyers and clothing wearers can be empowered through gratitude.
