Liquid Courage is a kind of film that drew me to storytelling when I was a kid, even when I didn't see myself on screen. The film centers a black female protagonist and makes us laugh, cry, and heal without centering black trauma. We’re all constantly coming of age at different moments of our lives and I want to broaden that genre to be more inclusive towards people of color. There’s a loneliness inside of the chaos of this film and I hoped the audience could see themselves in the characters as they navigate the trial of growing up.
