Based on my experiences, I wanted to create a film that explored the depths of domestic violence. DV usually focuses on the abused and the abusee as they’re the eye of the storm. How about the people closest to the eye? The ones who struggle against the whirlwind of trying to mediate what is broken while also seeking some sort of understanding – the children. I wanted to tell this story for all those who lost their childhoods to a place that was supposed to be safe. That was supposed to emanate love. That was supposed to be a home.
