“Gazpacho” is a short film which explores treasured childhood memories and associations with my grandmother through the lens of her cooking, told through a narrative which combines my own personal histories and the collected stories of others. Through the telling of this collective story, the film serves as both nostalgic reflection and as a memorial, ultimately meditating on a continued legacy through the inherited tradition of the cooking as a symbol of love. The film utilizes a collage-style mixture of digital and richly-textured physical materials to reflect on the universally-shared human experiences of food, nostalgia, and love.
