I wanted to tell a story commenting on gun violence and this sort of youth suburban obsession with crime and hedonism that I found evident in American adolescence culture during my 8 year stay in Utah after moving here from Taiwan.
With my personal experience of gang violence overseas, and gun violence in the states, I felt that this sort of elliptical crime structure involving a single-day "easy" heist gone bad would most accurately capture my own projection of criminality while expressing the dangers of easily accessible firearms and the glorification of guns and gun violence.
