About this submission

Skateparks, abandoned buildings and basements! These are where artists get their start. A group of friends embark on a journey to Philly's DIY scene that highlights what makes the scene so special. I wanted to document how us weirdest of the weirdos find our sense of community in the diy scene. Its a place of pure artistic expression that is hard to find now.

Nico Swan, an avid dancer, Filmmaker & part time Clown. He gained early recognition, being an NCAC Finalist and receiving the Superior Award at the International Thespian Society. Swan's music videos have been featured in London and International Music Video Festivals. He's a Red Bull Filmmaker Fellow & he debuted his feature film, "Hip Hop Clowns," a musical dramedy starring Jonathan B. Wright, at an Academy Award-qualifying festival in 2023. Swan's filmmaking passion & charismatic humor has also built him a significant online presence, with 300k followers on TikTok. more...
