I chose this story, featuring exclusively female characters from different generations in Lithuania, because due to historical and political circumstances there is a very clear divide between older people and the young adults who grew up with different opportunities. This story is inspired by true events and the sudden passing of my grandmother. I wanted to pay tribute to the older women around the world who are the true pillars of a family and to honour my grandmother who was a teacher and worked with orphans and children with disability all her life, yet felt she has ‘not done much’.
