Ey! Don't Pick

About this submission

I am telling this story because I want the hate and bias against the AAPI community to stop. Through a Chinese proverb-inspired metaphorical storyline, we follow a Chinese grandma and her Chinese American grandson on their way to purchase persimmons, a fruit that is typically purchase for Chinese New Year celebration, from local fruit vendors in Chinatown, New York. It is out of a good heard of cherishing fortune and resources to pick through fruits carefully, but it is not so good when it comes to picking through people, isn't it?
