About this submission
I felt an urge to document how beaten down I felt the night of the Atlanta spa shootings. I didn’t think that I would make a project out of the footage at the time. I just knew that I needed to capture the pain that I was processing. This film shines a light on the exhaustion, grief, and trauma that Asian Americans have collectively experienced long before the hate crimes seen throughout the pandemic. In our culture, we are told to keep silent and tuck these feelings away. This film visualizes living with those emotions behind closed doors.
