"Dance, Girl, Dance" is a story about an heiress, Angelica Sycamore, who has her head in the clouds. She enters the ballet world on a whim, and gives up when she realizes it requires real work. I wanted to tell a story that works on two levels: This is a whimsical film about a girl trying to become a ballet dancer, even though she lacks all skill. But on the other hand, it is a meditation on privilege. Angelica, though a well-meaning person, can get into spaces without having the necessary skill, thus disrespecting the professionals.
