The plight of an artist was a personalized truth that I wanted to portray through metaphors. The metaphors acted as political statements. Apples and Oranges allowed me to talk about the issues that I deeply care about - authoritarianism, discrimination, patriarchy, and pressures that capitalism imposes. I chose to portray these issues through symbols in order to punch the ideas, rather than a mere representation. The parallels allowed me to accentuate the pain that individuals feel but is often ignored by spectators.
